The Department of Music was established in the University in 2018, at present being the best center of the division for Music education, the students from the remote areas of the division and the nearest districts take admission in the department for studies. Currently in the department B.A. & M.A. classes in Hindustani Classical Vocal and Percussion instrument – Tabla, Diploma in Light Music and Diploma in Tabla are being conducted . At present, the Department of Music is functioning as a Citadel of talented aspirants of Music in the old campus of the University.

The Department has constantly been in the process of enhancing the skills of our students, which leads to an increase in their productivity and output. Keeping these in mind, the Department has always strived to innovate and introduce new courses from time to time. Starting from 2018-19, the Department has introduced special courses, which are job-oriented in keeping with the objectives of the University.

Diploma in Light Music also have been introduced from this to fulfil this purpose. A One-Year Diploma course in Vocal Music and Tabla was started in 2018-19. Afterwards many major courses were introduced in the department. In addition to Under Graduate Courses in annual mode , Post-Graduation Course in Hindustani Classical Vocal as well as in Tabla have also been started from the year 2022 in Semester mode. Under the New Education Policy 2020, the new curriculum is implemented in the Under Graduate Courses of the department, due to which there has been a positive impact on the academic quality of the students.
